PLUNGE Week 15 - Come and see, Come and Listen

WEEK FIFTEEN
March 28, 2010 – April 3, 2010
READINGS: Exodus 4:19 – 7:13; Matthew 27:32-28:10; Mark 15:21-16:8; Luke 23:26-24:8; John 19:16-21:9

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf! Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me” Psalm 66:3,5,8,16.
This Psalm resonated in my mind all week not only as I read the account of Moses, but also as I contemplated Jesus and the events that we will remember this Easter week.

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Moses did all God told him to do, but instead of making things better for the Israelites, it made them worse. So Moses did what any great leader of God would do – he went to the Lord and complained…
"O Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all." Exodus 5:22-23

And God responded…
“Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go… Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.'"

This week, as you read about what God was about to do for Moses and the children of Israel; take some time to contemplate on all that Jesus has done for you on the cross and what His resurrection means for you in this life and in eternity...

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Come and see Jesus’ outstretched arms, come and listen to His cries as He bears God’s mighty acts of judgment our sins deserve… “About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Matthew 27:45-46

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Come and see Jesus die, come and listen to His final words as His act of redemption is complete… “Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Come and see God’s mighty hand, come and listen to Jesus’ cry of victory, as the barrier of sin between us is destroyed forever…With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!" Mark 15:38-19

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
Come and see the empty tomb, come and listen and remember the promises of God…“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' Then they remembered his words” Luke 24 5b-8

COME AND SEE, COME AND LISTEN
I know that my Redeemer lives, What comfort this sweet sentence gives, He lives He lives who once was dead, He lives my ever living head.

He lives and grants me daily breath, He lives, and I shall conquer death; He lives my mansion to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there

He lives, all glory to His name, He lives my Jesus, still the same’ Oh the sweet joy this sentence gives;
I know that my redeemer lives. Hymn 461 Vrs 1, 7, 8

HE IS RISEN, HE IS RISEN INDEED ALLELUIA!!!
